My favourite moments in life is when my Hopper app says
"Pack your bags!"
Me in a nutshell.
I love traveling. And I mean, I LOVE traveling. The travel bug is real, and I got it bad. I think one of my favourite sounds is hearing the hum of an airplane mid flight, or that feeling as the plane just lifts off the ground and you know you're about to experience something awesome as soon as that huge metal tin lands at its destination.
I’m easily excited, it doesn't take much to please me, and I often use too many exclamation marks and emojis!!
My favourite shows are This Is Us, Grey’s Anatomy, and Friends.
I love exploring new places while traveling, grabbing my hiking shoes to explore a hillside to find a great view, camping in the summer, and singing to Backstreet Boys.
I started off my photography career photographing weddings and families, and although I enjoyed some aspects of it, my heart was just never fully in it.
Through many sessions of chatting with one of my sisters about my business and brainstorming different ideas for it, eventually the idea of photographing swimming competitions came to be. I pursued that in various ways, and from there Swim Manitoba brought me on as their official photographer, but everything I did with it and my process was up to me.
That was amazing, and yet scary at the same time! I love having the freedom to do as I see best for what I offer and the way I do things, but it's also a lot of work and pressure to come up with every last detail on my own. This took years of honing, building, failing, changing, succeeding, failing again, and so forth.
I'm so glad I never quit, as I knew this was a desired service for the swimming community, and I'm so so happy I stuck with it and created something which I think is pretty awesome.
I love serving all of you with these tangible memories, and genuinely care so much about each of you as my customers and friends!
My sisters and I are best friends.
We also all three were competitive swimmers growing up, and at one time or another have all coached as well!
We love travelling together, and have been fortunate enough to have travelled to most of the provinces and almost 40 states over 10 annual road trips throughout the years.
We would pack up our car with some camping gear and a map (before GPS!), with little to no plan, and just drive in the general direction we knew we wanted to go. We often would drive till late at night hoping to stumble across a campground, and on occasion would sleep in our car in Walmart parking lots. lol!
Once kids came along for my sisters, those epic road trips changed with how they looked, but we still make it a priority every summer to at least get away for a weekend to a cottage by a lake somewhere. One day once the kids are a bit older we plan to resume our epic nation-wide road trips once again!
I also can't forget about my amazing mama! She didn't go road tripping with us, lol, but she is an amazing woman who was and is one of my biggest cheerleaders as I grow my business. A lot of you have met my sisters and mom when they are awesome and help me out at the pool at my booth. Yay for family!
Heyyy, that's me!
I grew up a competitive swimmer myself, and these two photos are me when I was about 12. These are a couple of very few photos I have of myself swimming growing up, and I love how I have these to look back on.
I only wish I had more!
I was a swimmer for 10 years with the Manitoba Marlins. I know all about the 10 times a week gruelling practices, and the feeling of living at the pool. It was a great opportunity to be able to swim, and through that have had the opportunity to change it into my career with photography!
So that's pretty cool.
